League of Women Voters inducts local women into hall of fame

Women throughout the Youngstown-area were inducted into the League of Women Voters’ hall of fame Thursday evening.
The non-profit honored nine women in the ceremony, who represented a significant impact in their communities.
“These are women who have empowered the Valley, who have made and left footprints within our community and who have served the public,” Suzyn Schewbel Epstein, the chair of the League of Women Voters hall of fame said.
The event also doubles as the league's biggest fundraiser of the year. All of the money raised at the event is set to go toward the group’s annual nonpartisan voter guide.
The non-partisan group said they are dedicated to informing voters on candidates and issues ahead of elections.
“We are here truly just to inform the voters of what their candidates feel,” Epstein said.
The league first began holding the ceremony 10 years ago, in 2016, as a way to shine a light on women who are focused on their local area, and who work to give back to their communities.
