LONDON (AP) Keith Richards says he didn't snort his father's ashes. Richards had told the British music magazine NME he had snorted the ashes of his father mixed with cocaine.

Richards has now posted a statement on the Rolling Stones' Web site saying the story is totally untrue.

Richards says the truth is that he scattered the ashes and planted an English oak. He says his dad is now growing oak trees and would love Richards for that.

Richards says he wouldn't take cocaine at this point in his life unless he wished to commit suicide.

NME says on its Web site Richard's remark was "no quip, but came after much thinking.'' Interviewer Mark Beaumont says Richards didn't offer the information, he had to ask him questions to get that information.
