Make-A-Wish creates "Man Cave" for Youngstown teen
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Dante DelSignore is in his second fight with Osteosarcoma, and he has the scars on his leg to prove it.
But on Thursday, it was not about scars. Instead it was all about the shopping, and Dante spotted the perfect couch right away. "I've always wanted a couch like this!" the 18-year-old exclaimed.
The sectional is going to be the centerpiece of Dante's brand new man cave, courtesy of Goldstein's Furniture and the Make-A-WishFoundation. Dante wished for the basement make-over so he could have a place to relax and recover after his harsh cancer treatments.
"I'm stuck at home because I can't go places when my white blood cell count is low," DelSignore said. "If somebody is sick, I can't fight anything."
Dante has three rounds of chemotherapy to go, and through all of the medical "stuff," he and his family are finding another ray of hope in the form of a comfy couch.
"It means a lot to us because we've watched Dante suffer so much," said his mom Carrie DelSignore. "I know that when this room comes together, it's going to bring a bright spot, a little happiness, and as parents that's what you want for your kids."
Dante's man cave should be completed by the end of this month. Furniture maker Broyhill is helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant fifty similar room make-over wishes across the country.
