Toyota named top-selling automaker; Cadillac ATS named car-of-the-year

DETROIT - Toyota was named world's top-selling automaker at the 2013 North American International Auto Show this morning once again dethroning General Motors for the title.
GM was the top-selling automaker for more than seven decades before losing the title to Toyota in 2008. Then GM retook the crown in 2011 when Toyota's factories were slowed by an earthquake and tsunami in Japan that left Toyota dealers with few cars to sell.
GM did, however, take the limelight at the Detroit auto show when a panel of 50 car critics chose the Cadillac ATS as the 2013 North American car-of-the-year. It's the first time the GM Cadillac has won the award.
Chrysler Group LLC's Ram 1500 pickup won truck-of-the-year.
The awards are another sign of a comeback by GM and Chrysler Group since their federal bailout four years ago.
