Warren leaders support senior complex

WARREN, Ohio - City leaders are showing their support for a proposed senior housing complex that would be built on the north side.

The Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority and Trumbull Housing Development Corporation are proposing to build Parkman Landing Senior Apartments on Parkman Road.

The 60 unit facility would house people age 55 or older and on a limited income.

"If we are awarded this project, we will demolish one of our tower buildings," Don Emerson, executive director of TMHA, explains. "Down the line we would seek another tax credit to build another 60-unit property, in which case, then we would tear down the other tower."

Some citizens expressed concerns over the idea of low-income housing coming to their area.

Council passed the resolution for the $12.9 million project, which will be of no cost to the city or its taxpayers.
