A Trumbull County jury has recommended the death penalty for a convicted murderer.

It took the jury four hours on Wednesday to determine the fate of David Martin, who was found guilty on September 11th of fatally shooting 21-year-old Jeremy Cole.

Martin shot Cole execution style and wounded Melissa Putnam during what investigators said was an attempted robbery in Warren in 2012.

"He's greatly missed for the last two years and he will be missed the rest of our lives," said Tabatha Dennison, Cole's sister.

Martin was found guilty on all eight counts, including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

In court, Martin apologized for what happened that day, and took the stand to convince the jury to spare his life.  "I am not about to sit here and cry tears for I was not crying when I did such crimes,"  Martin said.

A judge will deliver the final sentence next Wednesday.

Martin is currently serving a 21 year sentence, after being linked to a drug and weapons pipeline between Warren and Detroit. He's also allegedly one of the inmates who held a Trumbull County deputy hostage in April.
