Calling hours set for Valley broadcasting veteran Don Guthrie
Veteran Valley broadcaster Don Guthrie has passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Youngstown in 1943, Don graduated from Mohawk High School. in Bessemer, Pennsylvania in 1961.
Don worked at WKBN Radio in 1970 as an announcer and became the FM Program Director. In 1980, he took the position of weatherman for the WKBN noon news and also assumed the role of Radio Production Director.
Don was best known to viewers as the meteorologist for the WKBN Television at 6:00 & 11:00 broadcasts.
He was an accredited member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.
Since the public became aware in May 2014 that Don had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, there has been an outpouring of support for him and his family.
Hundreds of well wishers attended a fundraiser for Guthrie in Girard this past fall.
Don is survived by his wife Debbie, three children, Amanda, Kristy, David and grandchild.
Calling hours for Don are scheduled for Thursday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Saint Christine Church, 3165 South Schenley Avenue, Youngstown.
A prayer service will be held at 10:00 am Friday at the church. The service and calling hours are both open to the public.
