Suspected tainted heroin blamed on five overdoses in Warren

WARREN, Ohio - A warning out of Trumbull County that a possibly tainted batch of heroin is making the rounds.
Warren police said five people are suspected to have overdosed on the drug on Friday.
All five of the overdose victims were revived and survived after police and EMT's administered Narcan.
Police have determined that common tie between the overdoses was that the heroin was pure white in color.
"What we can tell is, they believe they are buying heroin, but it is, seems to be tainted with some other substance. The individuals that we spoke to are using the amounts that they normally do, but they all seem to be overdosing," said Lieutenant Greg Hoso with the Warren Police Department.
Police said that two people died Thursday from suspected heroin overdoses and are warning heroin users to not use the drug, especially if it's pure white.
Anyone with any information that might help police get these drugs off the street are asked to call the Street Crimes Unit at (330) 814-2658. Callers may remain anonymous.
