Backpacks with school supplies given away at Warren church

WARREN, Ohio -

The Warren Family Mission was able to lend a helping hand to families when it comes to back to school shopping.

A donation of $10,300 from Novellis, allowed Warren family Mission to stock 475 backpacks with school supplies for kids of all ages.

Families began lining up to receive the bags hours before the giveaway started, and came from as far away as from Cuyahoga County to grab a free backpack.

Dominic Mararri, the Director of Warren Family Mission, said they spent the day preparing for the big give away. "We've been up since 10 o'clock this morning. We've been doing a fantastic job to get everyone in and out and make it fun, and just provide the help for the parents.  It can be stressful when your kids are going back to school. You gotta think about this, gotta think about that, the kids were in sports all summer. So it's just a good jump start for the parents to try and alleviate some of that stress."

Each backpack is uniquely filled with supplies for each grade level. They also had dozens of designs so kids could choose a pack that fits their own style.
