Those who lived in Sharon voiced their opinions Wednesday evening to discuss the future of the former Shenango Inn.

The open hearing allowed them to meet the new property owners and hear what the future holds for the historic 100,000 square-foot facility.

The facility is located on Kimberly Road.

The former Shenango Inn was last open three years ago as an assisted living complex, and over the years, it has been a hotel and has hosted several high school proms and reunions.

"There's a lot of civic spirit, which is wonderful, and it's showing downtown and let's see what we can figure out to do, you know, in a building that people love and have had a lot of personal history with," said property owner Marty Goldin.

Most people at the hearing would like to see it become a hotel again to boost the economy and provide more jobs for the city of Sharon. Still, one thing most residents do not want to see is the property become a drug rehab facility.

Despite the feedback, there still is not a tentative plan on what's going to be happening to the building.
