WASHINGTON - It's been six months since the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown recently shared new photos of the carnage on Twitter.

"I slept in my office after the attack on the Capitol," Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown said. "I thought that was safer frankly than walking 20 minutes home and the when I woke up the next morning, I walked around the area around my office. They did not break into my office, they broke into the office upstairs which is actually my new office. They used an American flagpole to smash windows."

Brown says he decided to post the photos to remind people that it was an attack on our democracy and to pay tribute to those who helped save that democracy.

"It's a recognition of what happened, it's a recognition that the President of the United States and a number of members of Congress called on people to storm the Capitol and do the kind of damage and it's also a note of appreciation to federal employees who were there, especially police who protected us, especially a tribute to those who are injured or died from this attack and just like we remember September 11th and honor those who were hurt, injured and killed we do the same with January 6th," Senator Brown said.

Brown says he's disappointed Republicans didn't back Democrats in trying to establish an independent commission to investigate the January 6th attacks.

"Senator McConnell and the radical Republicans in the House and Senate have tried to essentially, they lied about it and are not willing to look at it," Senator Brown said. "I support law enforcement and prosecuting those who attacked our country but I think it should have been broader than that."
