CAMPBELL, Ohio - The Campbell City School District is taking steps to make school buildings more secure.

Superintendent Matthew Bowen told 21 News the district was awarded a grant to add metal detectors to its buildings.

Bowen says six metal detectors will be installed across four buildings.

Two detectors each will be placed at Memorial High School and the K-6 School buildings. The Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center and Northeast Ohio Impact Academy will also get a detector.

Bowen told 21 News that adding extra safety measures is always important.

"You can never be too safe," Bowen said. "We appreciate receiving the grant and look forward to installing these to increase the safety of our students, staff and community."
