MERCER, Pa. - A trial date has been set for Amy Gallagher, the former director of the Grove City Community Library, who is accused of stealing approximately $26,000 from the institution.

Gallagher's criminal trial is scheduled to begin on November 17 in the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas before Judge Daniel P. Wallace. A criminal pretrial hearing is also scheduled for November 12 in the same courtroom.

Gallagher faces charges including felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and misdemeanor counts of tampering with records. Several felony forgery charges were dismissed at a lower court hearing in August 2023.

Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker told 21 News earlier that Gallagher allegedly stole the funds in 2020.

Gallagher was initially charged in July 2023. She had previously spoken publicly about the library's financial difficulties in April 2023, before being charged.

The accusations against Gallagher have been cited by the current interim library director as a reason for the decline in community donations, contributing to the library's recent financial struggles. The library, which largely relies on community support, has been seeking donations to avoid potential closure.
