SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Some anxious moments Wednesday for an elderly man who spent about two hours stuck in a swamp.
Seventy-year-old Jim Hogue was looking for arrowheads with his dog Daisy when he got stuck in about three feet of mud on his neighbor's property off Center Church Road in Slippery Rock Township.
After nearly an hour, Jim called for help on his cell phone.
"It's about a 20 acre swamp; cat tails, beaver dams, pretty mucky. If you get in there it's kinda hard to get out. They say there's quick sand in there. Maybe he found some. That's why he's having trouble," said Todd Jinks.
"We took two boats back and located him and drug the boats in and loaded him in one. Both of us worked him out," said neighbor Brian Pancher.
Jim and Daisy were alert and conscious when they were rescued, but wet and cold. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
