YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A 23-year veteran of the U.S. Navy was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to his role in a child pornography investigation.

52-year-old Darryl Hipps had tears in his eyes as he told the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge John Durkin he got caught up in pornography on the internet, and he allowed it to cloud his judgment.

Back on May 16th Hipps pleaded guilty to five counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Hipps told the judge that he assumes full and complete responsibility for his shameless, reckless and irresponsible behavior.

But Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer McLaughlin told the court that the Green Township man had some 170 files in a share folder on his computer.

Videos of pre-pubescent chidren engaged in sex acts with adults, animals, and other children were found.

Assistant Prosecutor McLaughlin said, "These are real kids in these videos, seven, eight, and nine years old.  These are kids being raped on video."

In fact one of the files labeled reportedly by Hipps said, "Two-year-old girl getting raped during diaper change."

A search warrant was executed at his Pleasant Valley Court home on March 26, 2015 by the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit, agents from the FBI, the Mahoning County Sheriff's Dpeartment, Goshen Police, the Youngstown Police Department as well as agents from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

And while the defendant had no contact with the children in the videos, the judge called the videos sick and vile.
