Administrators at the Campbell Board of Education are preparing for the possibility of an upcoming teacher strike.

The board unanimously approved a plan Monday that allows the superintendent to take different steps to keep school doors open if a strike takes place.

The plan includes hiring security and licensed teaching professionals.

A release from the board says the strike will not affect regularly scheduled school days.

The Campbell Education Association - which represents about 91 teachers in the district - says negotiations during 11 sessions have not gone well since their most recent contract expired.

In July, members of the Campbell Education Association authorized union leaders to issue a ten-day strike notification if contract talks fail to come up with a new labor agreement. It would begin August 20, just two days before classes begin.

The next bargaining session is set for next Tuesday.
