A Warren man has been sentenced for seriously injuring a two-month-old child.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Peter Kontos on Monday sentenced 37-year-old Charles Ellis to eight years in prison.

Ellis pleaded guilty earlier to two counts of endangering children.

An indictment says that Ellis abused the baby, causing severe physical harm early last year.

The charges stem from an investigation by Warren police who were called to Akron Children's Hospital in mid-January to take a report on the child who suffered what was described as a significant injury.

The child was airlifted with head trauma and brain bleeding.

The child survived, but doctors also discovered evidence of previous rib fractures.
