ELLSWORTH TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A dog will be put down after attacking two people in Ellsworth Township Monday.

According to Dave Nelson of the Mahoning County Dog Warden's Office, a jogger was attacked around 9 a.m. on South Duck Creek Road.

Nelson said the dog was not chained up and the jogger recognized it from previous runs.

The dog ran at the jogger and attacked. The jogger went to the home for help. Nelson told 21 News, the female owner of the dog tried to chain him and was also attacked.

The owner and jogger both sustained injuries, and the jogger is still in the hospital with multiple bite wounds.

According to Nelson, multiple people called 911, and both women were bleeding.

Two to three police cruisers showed up on the scene, and the dog went after the deputies.

Nelson says officers on scene attempted to taser the dog, but it did not work.

Nelson says the male owner of the dog came home and was able to get the dog in his truck.

According to Nelson, the owner signed off on the dog being euthanized.

The dog will be euthanized Tuesday if he is deemed vicious or he will be put down after ten days.

The female dog owner was cited with failure to provide rabies paperwork and failure to control the dog according to Nelson.
