HEMPFIELD TWP., Pa. - Residents in Hempfield Township should be seeing upgrades to pedestrian and traffic signals in the coming months.

The area will be receiving over $44,000 for upgrading pedestrian signals and developing optimized traffic signal timings.

The upgrades are to increase traffic flow and help drivers and pedestrians move more safely and efficiently.

This initiative is part of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf's $5 million plan to upgrade traffic signals and increase safety within 24 municipalities across the state.

The upgrades are in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's "Green Light-Go" program.
