Burglar takes $800 worth of wings, fries, cheese sticks from Mercer ice cream stand

HADLEY, Pa. - Masks and social distancing precautions could not protect a Mercer County ice cream stand from burglars on the day before it opened for the season.
According to state police, someone got into Shirley’s Twin Kiss on Perry Highway and stole $800 worth of wings, cheese sticks, French fries, vegetables from the freezer.
The crime occurred on Thursday, the night before Twin Kiss was scheduled to open for the season.
The business owner posted the following message on Facebook.
Shirley's Twin Kiss (TK) is feeling sad.

To the person(s) who cleaned out our freezer at the Twin Kiss last night, I hope and pray that you were seriously in need of food! Just so you know, anyone that knows me would tell you that I am a much better giver than a taker! I would give anyone anything they asked for, so you did not have to steal from me! God Bless You!
And, to our loyal customers, hopefully our opening will go as planned. We are working with our suppliers to replenish our stock as quickly as possible. We will post any changes!

The crime did not stop Shirley’s from reopening. Subsequent Facebook postings invited customers to phone in orders ahead of time and asked them to wear masks.
