Arson Task Force investigates fire at 159-year-old Canfield home

CANFIELD, Ohio - Fire raced through a Canfield home that has stood since the start of the Civil War
The Mahoning County Arson Task Force is looking for the cause of the fire that brought departments from several communities early Friday.
An alarm went out shortly before 5 a.m. Friday after a fire broke out in a home at 369 East Main street, not far from the Colonial Plaza.
The first firefighter on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the roof. Once inside, the fire was reported inside the first floor walls.
Crews from Austintown and Green Township were also called out.
People inside the home got out safely.
Canfield Police say East Main Street was blocked off to traffic at Hillside for nearly three hours.
According to property records, the home was built in 1861.
