New data released this by the Ohio Department of Health reports eight Valley school districts reporting nine new COVID-19 cases.

There were nine new cases among students in eight districts in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties during the previous week.

In Mahoning County, St. Nicholas is reporting one new student COVID-19 case.

In Trumbull County, Hubbard, LaBrae, Liberty, and Niles school districts reported one new Student case per district.

Lakeview Schools reported two new student cases of COVID-19.

In Columbiana County, Columbiana ESC is reporting one new COVID-19 case and Salem City Schools are also reporting one new student case.

No district in the tri-county area reported a new staff case of COVID-19.

The Dashboard does not offer a breakdown of the school buildings where the infected student or staff member was assigned.

The weekly report reflects COVID-19 cases reported to schools by parents, guardians, and staff.

Schools are required to report cases to their Local Health Department who then report to the Ohio Department of Health.

State health officials say a report of COVID-19 should not be interpreted as an indicator that a school district or school is not following proper procedures. School cases can reflect the overall situation in the broader community.
