Mahoning County Public Health is offering a flu shot clinic Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their 50 Westchester Drive office in Youngstown.

Anyone wishing to receive a flu shot must make an appointment first by calling 330-270-2855 ext. 125 prior to the clinic.

Anyone attending should bring the following:

  • Insurance cards, driver’s license, Medicaid and Medicare cards so the cost of the vaccine can be billed; most private insurances are accepted.

The county encourages everyone from age 6 months and older should receive an annual flu vaccine, including people at high-risk of developing influenza-related complications, which include:

  • Children from 6 months old to 2 years old
  • Adults 65 years old and older
  • Pregnant women, women two weeks postpartum
  • Residents of nursing homes, long-care facilities
  • Chronic medical conditions such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, heart disease, blood disorders, diabetes, kidney, liver, or endocrine disorders, weakened immune systems due to diseases such as cancer, HIV or AIDS, or medications such as chronic steroid use or long-term aspirin use in people younger than 19 years of age.
