Hundreds of Mercy Health employees get COVID-19 vaccine

Hundreds of Mercy Health employees have received their coronavirus vaccines.
More than 400 workers were given their first dose of the Moderna vaccine Tuesday morning. The second dose of the vaccine will be given to those employees in 28 days.
Mercy Health received 4,800 doses of the vaccine, which will be used on employees right now.
Even with the vaccine beginning to be distributed, hospital officials are urging the public to continue social distancing and wearing masks.
"This is still not the end... there needs to be more people in the community -- a larger number in the community vaccinated -- in order to have the immunity needed to reduce the amount of spread," said Dr. James Kravec, the chief clinical officer of Mercy Health, Youngstown.
Dr. Kravec says they are not sure when vaccinations will open up to the general public.
It will take Mercy Health a few weeks to complete their vaccinations with more scheduled this and next week.
