Garbage truck collides with car in Neshannock Township

NESHANNOCK TWP., Lawrence Co. Pa. - Police in Lawrence County are investigating a crash involving a garbage truck and another vehicle Tuesday morning.
Just after 11:30 a.m., police were called to the crash on Pulaski Road near West Englewood Avenue in Neshannock Township where they were told at least one person was trapped inside their vehicle.
First responders were able to rescue 19-year-old Daniel Thomas Minenok of New Castle from his Honda Civic, which had suffered heavy damage.
The force of the crash tore the engine from the car.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown for treatment, but there is no word yet on his condition.
A medical helicopter was called, but could not fly because of the weather.
The driver of the Waste Management garbage truck, 51-year-old David Mark Bortmes of Karns City, Pennsylvania, was not injured.
Police said the investigation into how the two vehicles collided is ongoing.
There is no word yet on if charges will be filed in the crash.
