The 2021 annual Freedom Warrior Golf Outing has been canceled and the event's future remains uncertain.

Chairman of the event, Herm Breuer, notified golfers of the cancelation in a letter Friday.

The event was canceled in 2020 as well due to the COVID-19 pandemic and future outings are uncertain.

"The success of the Freedom Warrior was rooted in an enormous commitment of the largest sponsors. We are so thankful for their commitment and support over the last seven years. The pandemic has challenged all of us to operate differently going forward, and although the need of our Valley's bravest will continue, the Freedom Warrior Golf Outing cannot," said Breuer

In the seven years of the event, a total of $800,000 was raised to help countless men and women who served the country from the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys.

The Freedom Warrior Golf Outing was the fundraising event for the Freedom Warrior Charitable Fund, which is maintained and operated by the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania And Eastern Ohio.

That fund will remain open and will continue to assist veterans of the area according to Breuer.
