COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is getting ready for the upcoming construction season.

According to the release, ODOT is investing $1.92 billion into 956 projects across the state.

The construction projects include improvements to 876 bridges and 4,596 miles of pavement with 96 cents of every dollar going towards keeping roads and bridges in good condition.

Some of those projects are in Columbiana County where $21.7 million will be invested.

Projects set for Columbiana County include six bridge/culvert projects, 4 safety projects, 2 pavement projects, and 2 slide repairs.

"Thanks to the foresight of Gov. DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly and internal operational savings identified by our workforce, we have been able to weather this global pandemic. Without those extra funds, we would be nearly a billion dollars in the red," said ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks. "While other states have been delaying or cancelling projects, Ohio continues moving forward."
