Driver killed after crashing into Youngstown bridge identified

YOUNGSTOWN - The county coroner has identified the man who was killed after crashing his car into the side of a Youngstown bridge.
Nicholas Boerio Jr., 41, was killed when police were told by bystanders that they saw him driving under the 7-11 to I-680 interchange bridge at a high rate of speed when they said he slammed the car into one of the bridge support beams.
Police and EMS immediately responded, but Boerio was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not ruled on an official cause of the crash at this time and it is still under investigation by Youngstown police.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
It is not known at this time if anyone else was inside the car.
Investigators at the coroner's office said Nicholas is the uncle of Charles Boerio, who died on Salt Springs Road early Sunday morning.
This happened moments after a shooting at the Torch bar, where several people were shot.
It's unknown if Boerio's death is in connection with that incident.
