Mahoning County OVI Task Force releases checkpoint results

CANFIELD, Ohio - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force collaborated with the Ohio State Highway Patrol OSP to conduct two sobriety checkpoints Saturday and Sunday.
The first checkpoint was conducted on South Avenue near Mathews from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and the second checkpoint was conducted on US224 at Marinthana from 12:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Enforcement action associated with the checkpoints and saturation patrols was as follows:
- Five arrests for OVI
- Three warrant arrests
- One felony arrest
- Two summonses for open containers
- Four summonses for marijuana
- Two summonses for driving without a license
- One citation for failure to obey a traffic control device
- One citation for a seatbelt violation
- One citation for other minor misdemeanors
- One loaded handgun seized
-18 warnings issued
Participating task force agencies included Canfield, Boardman, Beaver, Goshen, Jackson, MCSO, Poland Township and Smith Township.
