MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Mahoning County Public Health will be hosting flu vaccine clinics across the county in preparation for the upcoming flu season. 

Trumbull and Columbiana Counties will be holding flu clinics as well, but are unsure of their schedule. 

Trumbull and Columbiana are waiting on the vaccine from the state, but are expecting to hold the clinics soon. Columbiana County says they will be receiving the vaccine around Halloween. 

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age or older should receive the flu vaccine every season. 

People who are also at high risk of developing flu-related complications, adults 50 years of age or older, pregnant women 2 weeks post-partum should receive the flu vaccine, as well as residents of nursing homes or other long term care facilities. 

People with chronic medical conditions, diabetes, or weakened immune systems due to medication should also receive the flu shot. 

To receive the flu shot at a clinic, bring insurance card, driver's license, Medicare and Medicaid cards, and private insurance cards. 

Mahoning County Public Health is a Vaccines for Children Program Provider and will have limited opportunities for children that are uninsured or underinsured to receive the vaccine free of charge.
