Ohio - With 2021 on track to be the deadliest year for overdose deaths in Ohio, Ohio could start receiving part of its $808 million settlement from opioid distributors as soon as November.
85% of the money is targeted for cities and counties with the other 15% going to the state.
21 News spoke to harm reduction advocate, Dennis Cauchon, who says money needs to go to funding and expanding syringe service programs in every community.
"They provide all types of benefits. People are five times more likely to go into treatment through a syringe program than any other way. People get NARCAN to reverse overdoses so it's the most effective tool to limit overdose deaths," Cauchon said.
