The City of Youngstown Council meeting scheduled for November 17 has been canceled and all items submitted to be discussed on that day will now be heard by the council on December 1.

The items and legislation that were scheduled for discussion were not submitted to the proper department by the deadline, according to city clerk Valencia Marrow.

"Repeated attempts to get the Council legislative packet delivered to our office by the noon deadline in order to process it and get it out to you all has failed again," said Marrow.

She claimed that nearly a year ago, the city's law department was given a request to submit their legislation by the deadline set by city council or their late items would not be rescheduled for hearing. Council rules allow for items to be heard at the next meeting after a missed date.

Marrow said the deadline for departments to submit their items for the November meeting was set for this past Monday at noon. She was still waiting for legislation items to arrive on Wednesday.

Because of Veteran's Day falling on a Thursday and staff being out of office, there will be no time for items to be processed and distributed to city residents. This prompted the decision to postpone hearing all items scheduled for November to be heard at the December meeting.

She said that the deadline for departments to submit items for hearing at the December meeting is Wednesday, November 24 at noon.
