Suspected Warren shoplifter charged with robbery
What started as a suspected shoplifting incident at the Parkman Road Sparkle Market in Warren on Sunday ended with a robbery charge being filed.
A store employee told police she tried to block a woman going through the checkout line after allegedly stuffing her purse with items from the shelves.
According to the police report, the suspect pushed her way past the employee. Even though the store security guard tackled the alleged shoplifter, she got back to her feet and ran out of the store, leaving her purse behind.
Police got the suspect’s name from store employees who say they were familiar with the woman and tracked her down to the Riverview Motel, where officers arrested 30-year-old Dominique Jenkins.
The suspect was taken to the county jail and on Monday pleaded not guilty to one count of robbery.
The police report says the contents of the purse included soap, Lysol wipes, and spray valued at $56.
