Officials have identified the suspect killed in an officer involved shooting that happened in Struthers last week.

According to the Mahoning County Coroner 35 year-old James Sheets was pronounced dead following a shooting at the corner of Steel Street and Salt Springs Road. 

Police said a traffic stop that started in Struthers led to a chase. The suspect crashed after Youngstown police officers converged on the vehicle.
 

Police say tasers were used at one point, and the suspect pulled a gun causing Struthers police to shoot the suspect.

The suspect died at the scene.

No Youngstown officers were involved with the tasing or shooting of the suspect.

The officer, or officers, who shot Sheets have been placed on administrative leave per protocal.
