A crash on Tippecanoe Road in Boardman has claimed a second life, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the driver of the Mercedes Benz sedan Terrel Brown, 21, of Youngstown, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, has also died from injuries from the crash Thursday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Brown was driving southbound on Tippecanoe Road when it left the road near McCarty Drive, went airborne, and struck a tree.

A passenger in the heavily damaged car, 21-year-old Charles Mitchell, died at the scene.

State Troopers believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

Neither of the victims was wearing a seatbelt according to Troopers.

Tippecanoe was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
