Mercy Health officer facing drug charges after heroin overdose incident

LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - A Mercy Health officer is facing drug charges after an overdose incident Tuesday evening.
Liberty Township Police were dispatched to Belmont Avenue and Churchill-Hubbard Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a person slumped over the wheel in a vehicle.
Police say the driver, later identified as Kasey Conricote, was slumped over and drooling from the mouth with his face blue in color. His car was still in drive with his foot on the brake pedal.
After failing to get a response from Conricote and failing to get into the vehicle to perform life-saving measures, Liberty Township Fire showed up on scene and successfully broke the driver's side window and began performing life-saving measures.
Upon regaining consciousness, Conricote told police he had taken "Boy," which police say is a street reference to heroin. Police say Conricote "snorted" and "smoked" the heroin.
Police also observed multiple open containers of White Claw in the vehicle, along with a rolled up $20 bill, a plastic baggie with an unknown white substance and an unknown white substance wrapped in paper in the the center cup holder.
Police say both of these unidentified substances appeared consistent with narcotic substances. They will be sent to BCI labs for testing and further charges are pending for lab results.
Conricote was placed under an immediate automatic license suspension and his driver's license and motorcycle permit were both seized.
Conricote was issued a citation for OVI as well as Open Container. He was also charged with Drug Paraphernalia.
Mercy Health confirmed with 21 News that Conricote is employed by the company as a reserve officer. Mercy Health is currently investigating the matter.
