The Red Cross has been contacted to offer temporary housing and other assistance needs to residents of a Boardman apartment that caught fire late Tuesday.

Township firefighters were called to the 100 block of Shields Road when flames broke out in the two-story house.

The first crew on the scene reported smoke and flame coming from the home.

Firefighters from Canfield were also called to assist.

The occupants were not injured.

Damage is so extensive that the fire department called a company to board up the doors and windows.

Investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
