Drugs suspected to be a factor in wrong way driver crash in Brookfield Township
OSP is investigating a two vehicle crash with injuries that took place Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers say the crash took place at 1:30 p.m. on State Route 82 just east of Obermiyer Road in Brookfield Township when 39-year-old Taj Albert of Slippery Rock was driving a 2014 Buick Verano eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Troopers say Albert struck a 60-year-old truck driver from Brookfield head on. Albert was taken to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital with minor injuries. Troopers say the truck driver was not injured.
Troopers say suspected illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in Albert's vehicle and these drugs are suspected to be a factor in this crash.
SR-82 Westbound was restricted to one lane during the investigation, but all lanes have since reopened.
Albert has been charged with OVI, Wrong Way on a Divided Highway and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Drug charges are pending further investigation.
