'Active shooter' drill conducted at Poland Schools

If you saw police and other first responder activity going on Friday morning at Poland Local Schools, there is no reason for concern.
Local law enforcement conducted a simulated active shooter drill.
The scenario entails two student victims and the arrest of the shooter.
The drill began at 8:30 a.m. and was completed in less than an hour.
During the drill, all buildings were restricted to authorities and Poland Local Schools students and staff only.
According to an alert on the district's website, this drill was planned before the events of September 20, in which a juvenile was arrested for making a bomb threat against the school.
The alert says the drill would be different from what occurred during the bomb threat.
"We're gonna use this as an opportunity to practice this as an active shooter event with our entire school district. We're gonna use that opportunity to coordinate with multiple agencies and spend time debriefing on what went well, what are some things we need to do better with and prepare for another event down the road," said Poland Local Schools Superintendent, Craig Hockenberry.
Hockenberry added that this is part of a "strategic and deliberate plan" to focus on school safety all year long.
The main goal of this drill is to get feedback from all first responders and law enforcement agencies on the school's procedures.
Poland Seminary High School, Poland Middle School, and McKinley Elementary all took part in the drill.
