The Brownlee Woods branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will reopen Monday, Feb. 6.

In January 2022, the branch closed due to a broken furnace. Shortly after, it was decided the building needed new flooring, lights, computers and a fresh coat of paint before reopening.

Maggie Henderson, PLYMC Strategic Communications Officer, said the library reached out to the community and neighbors to get their input on how their local library could best serve them. Now that reopening day is near, she said the staff is excited to begin making connections with patrons again.

"This is an exciting time for the Brownlee Woods community, and we look forward to seeing patrons back in the branch and reestablishing our bonds with the community," Henderson said.

The building contains a seating area near the book collection, 8-person computer lab, children's computer, projector and meeting room available for community use.

Services such as genealogy programs, computer assistance classes, Medicare information sessions, story time and other children's programs will be available as well.

The library is located at 4010 Sheridan Road in Youngstown. At this time it is unclear what times the library will be open.
