Early release granted for Struthers man in prison for fight over parking space

A Struthers man who was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2019 will be released early.
Nicholas Italiano, 29, faced Judge Anthony D'Apolito in a Mahoning County Court Wednesday morning for a judicial release hearing. Judge D'Apolito granted the request.
In 2019, Italiano was found guilty of shooting a man following a fight over a parking spot at a Youngstown convenience store.
Police say the fight started between Italiano and a woman after his truck took up several parking spaces at the store.
The woman called her fiancè, who police say punched Italiano in the face. Italiano then shot the man as he ran away.
According to police, Italiano fled but later called the department to confess he had shot someone in what he claimed to be self-defense. He did have a CCW at the time.
This is not Italiano's first request for release; he also asked to be released early in 2020, but was denied.
