Sentencing has been delayed for a Brookfield woman who once served as the Liberty Local Schools treasurer and pleaded guilty to charges filed against her for stealing nearly a quarter-of-a-million dollars from a Trumbull County veterinary business.

Tracey Obermiyer, 52, was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty in December to grand theft, attempted identity fraud, and forgery.  The sentencing hearing has been moved to May.

The indictment stems from Obermiyer’s job as the former office manager of a Brookfield veterinary clinic.

Police say Obermiyer pocketed funds from the Village Green Veterinary Service beginning in 2017 until she was fired in January 2019.

In a separate civil lawsuit filed by the clinic, Obermiyer has been ordered to repay $243,000 plus interest for using the business's funds to pay debts and other personal expenses.

In 2012, the Ohio Auditor's office ordered Obermiyer to repay more than $4,900 illegally spent before resigning as treasurer for the Liberty School District. No criminal charges were filed in that case.
