Counselors were available Monday at LaBrae High School for staff and students who may be grieving after a thirteen-year-old boy died Saturday after a tree fell on his family's home in Leavittsburg.

Investigators have identified the victim as Brenton Hemberger.

School Superintendent Anthony Calderone tells 21 News that the teen was not a student at LaBrae.  However, counseling is being offered to those who may have known him.  Calderone says he has been told that the teen was being home-schooled.

According to the Warren Township Fire Department, a large oak tree fell on a house along the 300 block of Park Road NW at around 1 p.m., trapping the teen in the rubble.

Because of extensive structural damage to the house, firefighters called for help from the Lordstown, Braceville, and Newton Falls Fire Departments, as well as Trumbull County EMA and the Summit & Portage County Special Operations Response Team. Underwood Towing and Recovery brought in a crane to remove the wreckage

Despite a three-and-a-half-hour effort from First Responders, the boy died.

Firefighters say efforts to rescue the victim were prolonged due to the stability of the structure.
