A stray dog found in Tennessee will step up to take his place as a K-9 at the Poland Township Police Department.

Township Trustees are scheduled to gather Tuesday evening to swear in Pogo as the police department’s Narcotic Detection K-9.

Pogo’s unique odyssey began in December 2021 when the police department began searching for a dog that possessed all the qualities needed to be a police canine.

After some disappointments, the department teamed up with the Throw Away Dog Project, a company near Philadelphia that repurposes, trains, and relocates "unique" dogs to positively impact communities.

The Throw Away Dog Project found an unwanted dog near a construction site in Tennessee.  “Pogo” met his new partner, Poland Police Officer Ethan Moncilovich who brought him back to Poland.

After undergoing training Officer Moncilovich and Pogo will be ready to take to the streets.
