Sports celebrities with Mahoning Valley ties converged on the Lake Club to help with the Annika fore East Palestine golf event.

"We want to create awareness and give some love to the residents of East Palestine, " said Annika Sorenstam, wife of former East Palestine resident Mike McGee.

"We want to make sure that residents know were there and we want to lift their spirits, "added Sorenstam.

McGee, who grew up in East Palestine said this is a time to boost morale. "We're not here to be scientists. We just want to show supports whether its through youth sport of whatever."

A list of celebrities with local ties also were part of the day including Bob Stoops, Bo Pelini, Jason Kokrak, Bernie Kosar, Ray Mancini, Doug Phillips, Mike Tomczak and Jim Tressel.

Others taking part were Warren Sapp, Austin Carr and Ben Curtis.

"I want to try and help fundraise. It's a terrible tragedy and if I can find a way to support those people and I can help, I want to help," said the former Oklahoma coach.

"Anytime you get a chance, anybody that's been blessed like I have to give back is just smallest thing I can take part in," said Kokrak.
