EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - A long-time, family-owned business in East Palestine will not fall victim to the aftermath of the February 3rd Norfolk Southern chemical train derailment.

The owner of Doyle's Fresh Meat and Deli announced on Facebook that the store is not closing after 17 years in business.

According to the post, Doyle’s has been sold to a local family that plans to continue in operation.

Present owner Duane Doyle says after the new owners take over in June, he’ll stay on part-time along with some current staff members.

Doyle told 21 News in April that business was suffering following the derailment, and he was considering closing the shop on East Taggart Street, just down the road from the derailment site.

“I want to take time to thank each and every one of you who have supported us through the past 17+ years here in East Palestine and for the many years while I owned Winona Frozen Foods,” Doyle wrote. “I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to serve the Winona community along with the community of East Palestine and the entire tri-state area for almost 51 years.”
