A Warren man is scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing Wednesday afternoon after pleading guilty earlier to a charge filed in connection with a traffic accident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in that city.

Philip Deon Honzu, 41, is set to go before a judge in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

In March, Honzu pleaded guilty to one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident.

Honzu surrendered to Warren Police in December 2021, just days after 52-year-old Roy Mason was struck by a Jeep Cherokee as he was riding his motorcycle along East Market Street.

Police say Honzu fled the scene after running a red light and striking Mason on his motorcycle that night.
