WARREN, Ohio -  An arrest has been made after a Warren man told police that someone stole his gun during a pickup basketball game.  However, the person arrested is the owner of the missing gun.

It was last month that 22-year-old Ja’wahn Dean called Warren Police to report that he noticed that his Glock 17 with a purple laser sight was missing from his gym bag after he was done playing basketball on the courts behind the McGuffey PK-8 school.  Dean told an officer that his wallet and cell phone were still in the bag.

Dean said he was with a large group of people and wasn’t sure who took the weapon which he said was valued at $550.

Six weeks after, Dean was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of possessing a deadly weapon on school grounds.

As of Wednesday morning, Dean remained in the county jail awaiting a video arraignment in Warren Municipal Court.

There is no word on if Dean got his gun back.
