An early morning police pursuit in New Castle resulted in a pickup truck slamming into a pole in New Castle.

Police called two rescue squads to the intersection of West Moody Avenue and Wilmington Road just before 1:30 a.m. after dispatchers were told that smoke was coming from a truck just down the street from UMPC Jameson Hospital.

It turns out that the crash was the result of a police chase.

Two patients went to the hospital. One victim has a leg injury.
