Austintown man accused of assaulting girlfriend, stealing her vehicle in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Police are searching for an Austintown man who is accused of assaulting a woman and stealing her car in Youngstown.
Police were called to the area of Plaza View Court and McGuffey Road for an assault report. Upon arrival, police located the female victim, who they say had a badly swollen face and forehead and was bleeding from the mouth and left ear.
The victim told police that it hurt to breath and she may have also broken a rib. The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for these injuries.
Police say the victim was assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as a 27-year-old Austintown man when she went to her sister's house with him for dinner.
The victim told officers the male suspect got upset for no reason and that he has a history of becoming angry and violent without provocation.
After the two left the house, police say the suspect drove around in the victim's car with the her while punching her in her head, face and ribs. Police say once they got back to the victim's house, he demanded she get out of the car and drove away once she did.
The victim told police she's filed reports with them about previous violent incidents involving the suspect, but never went through with pressing any charges.
Police explained to the woman how to file formal charges, but it's unclear if she did so at this time.
